Both my little fluff babies have come down with something it is treacherous out there. Brindleton Bay does get a very heavy rain season and this one was particularly bad. I’m thinking if that might be the reason these fur babies have got so sick.
Good thing for them I am a darn good Vet. Now that Blue and Bart are feeling better I should go check on my little ones.
Aw, Piece my boy! He is putting on a cute puppet show for his father! What a good boy!
Evie is still fast asleep! With her companion Bart I see. He has a perfectly good bed with lots of room but the dear thing likes to be close to his sim. What a softy!
“Justin! What are you still doing here? Shouldn’t you be at work?”
“Come sit down I have something to tell you.”
I eyed him suspiciously as I joined him on the sofa, “Yes?”
“Okay, don’t be mad but I quit my job!”
“You did what now?” I raised my eyebrows and looked at dead in the eyes.
Justin shifted in his seat, “Well I did it for you, I went ahead and submitted your resume at the Brindleton Bay Pawspital and they want you to start straight away!” He exclaimed.
My jaw dropped I couldn’t help it. “Seriously?”
“I can’t believe you did that!” I exclaimed.
“Believe it!” He smirked at me.
That triggered a smile to cross my lips as well, “So when do I start?” I asked.
“As soon as you can they seemed pretty eager to have somebody.”
“So I just go now?”
“Pretty much!” Justin nodded.
“Oh wow! Is this real?”
“Of course it’s real what do you think this is a game or something?” he laughed.
“Oh Justin you are so sweet! Are you sure you are okay with this with the kids?”
“Don’t you worry about a thing. Now hurry on you got a big day at work today!”
“Well okay then I guess I’m going to go to work now!” I stood up and placed my hands on my hips looking up into the skies as if to say hello to the watcher!
“There’s a packed lunch for you in the fridge be sure to take it with you!”
“We got this right Evie?”
My first day of work started out really crazy I mean the whole thing was a huge surprise and I was so nervous. I showed up at Brindleton Bay Pawspital but I didn’t see any other sims there, not even a cat. That could also be because the storm, it is really coming down out there. I was soaked before I arrived to my first day.
I found some clean scrubs in the back and quickly changed. Still no one came around. I found it very odd that the door was unlocked for anyone to enter and no one was showing up. We were due to open any minute and I was starting to really panic! Where was the manager?!
And as if on cue the first client of the day walks in and still no sign of anyone. I introduced myself and explained the situation. She begged me to look at her pet she had traveled already so far to get here and with such a sick kitty. I couldn’t say no to her pleads.
Sumi was so freaked out poor thing probably picked up my anxiety that and this horrible storm wasn’t helping. It took a while to diagnose this kitty as I had to spend a lot of energy trying to keep calm. Alice Spencer-Kim-Lewis seemed really tense too. I assured here I am a DVM and a licensed Practitioner just that it was my first day on job and I didn’t know where anything was yet. We worked through it though and I was able to help treat Sumi and ease Alice’s tension. She was kind she assured me that I did a good job and wished me luck.
To my surprise I had my next patient waiting. I’m going to need more than luck. I explained once again that it was my first day and that the manager had not shown up yet but that I was qualified to help. Luke Good agreed said he had been here several time this week to try to get his pup Kelly looked at. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing and now I was becoming very worried, what was going on?
Second patient was a little easier to manage at least I knew where a few more things were this time around. Odd it looks as though this pup has been bit by something. I gave a dose of medicine to fight any infection it might be a little while before Kelly is felling her usual self. Luke thanked me for my services.
Something was a bit unusual with my next client. They hadn’t checked in and as far as I can tell there was no pet around.
“Are you Supriya?”
“Yes, and you are?”
“My name is Catarina Lynx, nice to meet you.” she held out her hand to shake mine. “come sit”
“Are you the Manager?”
“Oh goodness no, I wish though can you say dream job!” She laughed loudly.
“Oh, well okay how do you know my name?” I asked.
“Well I met your husband the other day see I was coming in to talk to the Vet here and the door was open and no one was home.”
“Kind of like right now.” I gestured to the room around us, no Manager is sight.
“Yeah well no one has been here in quite a while and well I don’t know if you noticed but there’s a lot of sick animals out there.”
“I thought I saw that this place was up for sale.”
“Yeah so there’s been collectors here too whoever was running this place skipped out on the bills. The employees that used to work here have been calling everyone wants Simoleans. People have also been calling asking about purchasing the property, the banks been calling and the collectors. They want to tear down the Pawspital! I don’t know what to do anymore. That’s why when your husband dropped off your resume I told him to get you in here right away. I’m so glad your here now you can help me.”
“Help you what?”
“Keep this place alive, find out what happened, save furry lives!”
“You are talking crazy! I can’t afford this place.”
“Yeah, neither can I. But the way I see it the place can’t sell without the owner here to sell and furballs can’t cure themselves maybe we can keep it alive somehow? Find out what happened to the missing sim?”
“I don’t know Catarina. This just sounds so Crazy!”
“Please call me Cat. Think about it I can cover the night shift if you promise to be here tomorrow but I just can’t stand the idea of helpless pets.”
“I’ll be here tomorrow for you but you got to figure something out here this is just too crazy.”
“I know, and thank you.” She pulled me in for a hug and held in too long and too tight for comfort. I smiled awkwardly and left for the evening.
I can’t even begin how to express how happy I was to be home. Blue was pretty happy to see me too. My sweet doggo! I was feeling extremely tense from my day and the rain had still not let up.
I peaked in to Evie’s room to see Justin reading her a bedtime story. I was missing her so much from being away all day but bed time with a toddler is tricky and I thought best to quietly step back so she wouldn’t hear and be able to fall asleep more quickly. I was exhausted. I forgot how hard it was to be at work all day. First days are always hard and mine was especially hard.
Pierce was busy doing his homework when I peaked in on him. I am impressed my family managed to get through the day without me. I feel glad and sad at the same time.
I am so blessed to have such wonderful children and loving husband. I wonder if he knew anything about the pawspital?
I tried to wait until Justin came to bed but as soon as my head hit the pillow I fell fast sleep.
I slept through the night but felt like I barely slept at all. I work up late I barely made in to the Pawspital in time to start my first shift then I thought what the hell am I even doing going back to that mess. I rushed out the door my darling husband had a packed lunch for me already and I darted out the door to make it time to open. I had a quick conversation with Catarina as she ended her shift and went home. Coffee is needed for this day!
My first Patient was Sheru and his Sim Jesminder Bheeda. I am surprised of all the places sims are coming from is this the only Pawspital or something?
A line formed in the waiting room as I worked. I can’t believe the sims and sick pets just keep coming in faster than I can treat them all. What was I getting into. My next patient was Rosie and her sim Brent Hecking they also live in Brindleton Bay. He also didn’t know what happened to the owner I thought to ask in maybe it was somebody here in town. This was getting very unusual.
I got home that evening pleased to see my boys all gathered around helping to build a solar system for Pierce’s school project.
I’d say they did a good job! I am so proud of my family!
I was incredibly thankful for finally having the day off Cat and myself agreed to work every other weekend until we could figure something better out. I have been missing this little cutie and getting to spend the day teaching her and helping her with all her first things in life. Such an impressionable age. I do feel bad for not being around all week but I also feel really good about the work I am doing too.
It’s been a tough week, I don’t think I have ever been so happy for a day away from work before mostly because I had only worked a week since school and practicums. I still pushed myself to go for my jog with Blue it’s kind of our thing. Justin of course was there at home to greet me. We had a lovely evening together watching movies. We talked about the Pawspital he said he knew nothing about it thought Catarina was the owner. What was I doing getting mixed up in this that lady is crazy!
