Chapter 2 I’ll Be Home For WinterFest!

Hiya!

So I have been working so hard lately. Just some ground work to really launch my project! I haven’t talked about this project I’m working on too much yet. Someone once told me not to reveal your moves until you’re ready to make them you never know who’s listening that can scoop it up right from under you.

That wise friend was Darling. I can tell her anything and I mean anything at all, we are best friends forever!

“Miko! Is that your phone going off?”

“Yes.”

“Aren’t you going to answer it?”

“No”

“Why? Who are you ghosting?”

“Ugh! It’s Don… again..” I reluctantly admitted.

“You are actually still seeing that guy?” Darling asked.

“Yes, no, I don’t know. I think he wants to break up with me..”

“What? Why do you think that?”

“Because well, he told me and I won’t let him.”

“Miko!”

“What!?”

“Why?”

“I don’t know, I know, it’s stupid.”

“Do you even like him?”

“No, honestly, there’s someone else I like.”

“Please tell me you’re not still hung up on Akira?”

“What! Don’t look at me like that!”

“You know he has a girlfriend, right Miko?”

“Don’t remind me.”

“Girl! You have to deal with this. You know you’re going to have to break it off with Don.”

“I know. I mean, I will just let me figure this out on my own. I’m going to bed now my head hurts.”

“Okay, If you insist.”

“I do, good night.”

“Good night.”

I gave my friend a hug before climbing the stairs up to our shared bedroom. I was really tired but I couldn’t put myself to bed yet. I was upset. Upset about the way my friend reacted, it was very judgemental. I know she is right and she is just being honest to me but I’m not ready to let go yet.

I made way to my next most comforting place. Simsatagram. I updated my Socials and watched a few cute videos on Simtube.

The next day I woke up early and dug out the Winterfest Tree. Darling helped a little bit but had to rush off to catch the bus for school.

That left me to decorate the tree on my own. That’s okay with me though. I just absolutely love Winterfest! It’s the most magical time of the rotation! I got quite a few decorations up but I too had to rush off before I could finish.

The next morning I slept in late. I have been putting in a lot of extra hours the last while. I may be up for a promotion soon so I am putting in the work! A lot of sims are taking the time off to be with friends and family right now but not me! I am taking advantage of this opportunity! I got big plans! Anyway I must have slept right through Darling getting up.

I must have also slept right through the computer breaking down. This is so.. not.. good. Right when I am up for promotion what am I going to now!?

“Darling! Your home? Did you break my computer?”

“Good morning Miko!” Darling closed her homework book placed her pencil down and looked up at me.

“I’m sorry Darling I didn’t mean to storm in on you but plum it, I really needed to work on my project. Do you know what happened?”

“Yeah, I broke it!”

“Darling!”

“Look I’m sorry I don’t know what happened I was just on it one moment then it wasn’t working the next.”

“I got to call someone.”

“Good luck with that storm out there, school has been cancelled and most businesses too, there’s a weather advisory not to outside today if you don’t have to.”

I sighed looking at Darling, feeling defeated. Darling turned her gaze away from me opened up her school books again and continued her studies.

So naturally I spent some time with the tree. There’s something really sweet about putting out all those decorations! Most of our decorations are handmade. when we all moved in together we really didn’t have a lot of things. So paper ornaments and random household decorations made it on the tree really some of the objects have no business on a Winterfest tree but it’s funny. Every year we add a new piece! I was really in the zone and that’s when…

…she came in.

She saw my Winterfest tree and felt the need to bust out. She really hasn’t been practicing that skill since she sang for the first time here in this apartment. I politely excused myself I couldn’t bear it any longer. That and seeing Akira with her is still really hard for me. Darling is right I need to just forget him and I really should just set Don Lothario free too. It’s just I don’t want to let go.

“Good morning Darling, what are you watching?” Akira asked as he plopped down on the couch beside Darling.

“Just Winterfest cartoons. They have the Winterfest specials on all day.

“Oh yeah! That’s today! Heh well Happy Winterfest Darling!”

“Happy Winterfest!”

“Hey I have a question.” Akira paused for a moment.” What’s up with Miko She’s been acting strange around me?”

“You’re joking right?”

“I’m sorry Darling I know she’s your best friend but please tell me if you know something.”

“Oh wow, oh watcher, I don’t even know how to answer that.”

“What does that mean?”

“Look Akira, I’m going to tell it to you straight. I don’t know a whole lot about flirting, I really don’t. I’m like the most unflirty sim there is. I can however tell you something though, and that’s that Miko likes you. Like, like likes you and always has. So now that you got this new girlfriend she’s been all over the place.”

“Whoa, I..wow”

“Look, she was picking up more shifts and just trying to keep herself busy away from you and Tamara. That and other unhealthy coping strategies..”Darling trailed off.

“She has been working a lot lately.”

“Yeah well, not today, I sabotaged the computer so she would take a break, and now it’s really broken, it’s still storming and today is Winterfest lets just try to have a good day. Please don’t make it weird.”

Akira nodded and walked away. A few hours later Miko had come downstairs.

Winterfest truly is wonderful time of rotation and this one does not disappoint!

Together we sang Winterfest Carols.

Had an excellent Grand meal prepared by Akira. Lots of good conversation and laughs! It was the most the three of us really hung out just us in awhile!

The whole day was really good, in fact it was too good?

Father Winter came by and we exchanged gifts. Winterfest was pretty perfect! I got a new computer to fix my broken one! So I used the mouse from the old one to be our new addition to the tree ornament collection! Darling got a gym membership just what she wanted! Akira got a huge aquarium for his new critter collections.

Later that night Akira and myself went to a Winterfest after party at Planet Honey Pop. I invited Don Lothario out too. I was surprised he answered, no one should be alone for Winterfest. So I insisted he come out even though he was reluctant.

I thought twice about calling off my relationship to Don. It being the holiday and all. He just seemed so gloomy I didn’t want to add to it.

Turns out, that was the best present I could have gifted him. He looked so relieved to hear that too, like the pressure of being a boyfriend was just too much for him. We agreed to be just friends and he really perked up. I am not really sure how to feel about that like should I be glad or insulted? I really don’t know.

I do know that without Don and Tamara around Akira and me had a beautiful moment. We sang a popular love ballad and it was beautiful! Even with the bar filling up and the sounds of cheering it felt to me like we were the only two in the room. I could live here in this moment forever!

Nearing the end of the night Tamara arrived, she stumbled in actually. You could smell the juice on her immediately.

She walked right past us like, she didn’t even see us there. She walked up to the bar and gave someone none of us knew a hug. I glanced over at Akira and he looked broken. Don spoke up finally, after watching for what felt like an eternity. “Dude isn’t that your girl?”

“…she told me she couldn’t come out with me today… that she would be with family. What is she doing here?” Akira choked out.

“Uh, Don can you excuse us for a moment?” I asked.

He nodded and walked away. There was a blonde lady singing and suddenly he was entranced by her. I ushered Akira over to a nearby table.

It was heart breaking to watch. I could see Akira’s heart breaking and it took way to long for her to even notice he was at the party. She was singing and dancing and just all over the place. I was embarrassed for her and I don’t even really like her.

I was able to get her attention and she fell into the chair nearly smacking her face off the table. I gasped, Akira cringed and she laughed.

“Oh you better take me home now, before somebody gets hurt!” She spat out in Akira’s direction.

Akira looked at me horrified before excusing himself good night. I watched them leave, I knew this day was too good to be true and that it would only be a matter of time before something happened. I know that sounds horrible but I kind of sensed something was going to happen, I just didn’t expect it to be that. Somebody did get hurt tonight and it breaks my heart. I just love Akira so much seeing him tonight like that, it’s just too much I’m going to get angry if I keep thinking about it.

I just don’t want to deal with it, not right now so I stayed at Planet Honey Pop right up I couldn’t stay awake any longer.  I stayed until I started to see red before I finally decided enough was enough and it was time for bed.
